Columbus Coalition for the Homeless Partnership

In January 2021, I reached out to the Columbus Coalition for the Homeless to ask if they had a desire to work with me to create an educational experience. They stated that they had been hoping to develop a presentation on how systemic racism impacts homelessness. After looking at a previously-delivered webinar, I agreed to help with the presentation as well as to take an earlier presentation and place it into an LMS. The below is an overview of the development process.

As mentioned above, there were two deliverables: 1) A presentation for a webinar on systemic racism and homelessness and 2) a learning experience in an LMS from a previously-delivered webinar. For 1), I met weekly with the director of the CCH as well as a subject matter expert to discuss the webinar. In our weekly meetings, I developed a timeline, a SWOT analysis, an MOU and other documentation. Also, I would spend the week creating the PPT for the presentation and in our meetings, I would receive feedback. I would then use the feedback to revise as well as to create my content for the upcoming week. This agile approach helped to rapidly develop the work. As the date of the webinar delivery neared, I went over the presentation with the presenters, asking them for their thoughts and if they would like to add or remove content. The day of the webinar saw close to 500 people attend and feedback was overwhelmingly very positive.

For 2), I utilized a webinar that had been given the year before on Homelessness and the Housing Crisis. I used Adobe Premiere Pro to cut the video into chunks around main themes. Then, I inserted these video clips into the free LMS called Talent LMS. Each unit in the LMS consisted of one video clip and a few activities or questions related to that content. The hope is that this learning module will be a product that CCH will give to members of the community who are interested in learning more about this topic.
